Hope all goes well Hayley. Keep us posted.
My wife had a midwife appointment yesterday too. She measured 29cm which is only a little smaller than "normal" and heartbeat was 143.
This midwife was much better than the others. She told us baby was lying on the left side and her head was down, with her bum up by my wife's boobs!

Hey all just got back from scan, little miss is just below 10th centile so i have now got to go twice a week for monitoring, once a week for a placenta scan and every other week for a growth scan. Estimated weight today was 3lb 9oz so she has gained just over 1lb in 4 weeks, i now have less than 8 weeks left so im guessing she will be around 6lb? Its a bit of a pain having to do all these trips but i guess they need to check placenta is doing its job and that she continues to grow properly so better to be safe

I don't know what all that means Hayley, but I do know that going so regularly for the different scans can only be a good thing so they can spot any anomalies.
My niece was only 6lbs when she was born, which was so tiny. But I saw her on Saturday at her one month birthday and she's filling out loads!

Yeah my eldest was bang on 6lb he was tiny! The 10th centile is the line on the graph in wifes notes and if measurements drop below that line then u have to be monitored to check no placenta problems are causing the small growth/weight. Im sure she will be fine just a tiny little thing, back on friday for monitoring, then next tue for monitoring and placenta scan. I did say it may be wise for me to start washing some of little ones clothes and getting a bag ready just in case! Nursery is half done, will be finished and new carpet coming friday

6lb birth weight isn't that tiny. I'm sure she'll be perfect. Plus girls are generally smaller anyway. It sounds like you just carry smaller babies. Did they check the placenta today? Is it appearing to function as per expected? Lachie was in the 97th percentile at birth for his weight. So crazy! He still seemed tiny to me, but I guess for his gestation he was quite big. At least you'll get to see baby more often. Exciting! x

So, I thought it might be a good idea, seeing as we are so close to our due dates now, to share with Spencer and his wife our first signs of labour.
My first sign was an upset tummy when I woke up in the morning. Then by midday, I had lower back pain and my contractions commenced. I was at work, contracting around 7 minutes apart. I was only 34+5weeks so I thought perhaps it was just braxton Hicks. I rang my mum, who had had 6 preterm labour, and she said she thought I was in labour. I rang the hospital at 9pm and they said to take some panadol and try to rest. By 4am I was contracting every 3 minutes. This is when I went into the hospital. Upon internal examination it was discovered I was fully effaced and 5cm dilated. I didn't give birth until 4am the following morning. Gas and air for pain relief and 1 shot of pethedine. I gave birth on all fours as that felt the most comfortable for me. I was exhausted after two days of zero sleep. As soon as he was placed in my arms all pain and exhaustion was forgotten. I was blissfully happy. By far the most amazing experience of my life. I can't wait to do it all again.

Yup, good stuff Becky. Even though this is a temporary site, it looks pretty good to me! If you need any technical help, then feel free to give me a shout. I'm not used to forum sites (Proboarss, vBulletin, etc) but I used to be a web developer, so might be able to ask around or figure stuff out. Anyway, here are a couple of pics taken just now: Thank you! I might just take you up on that

Wow. Thank you that description CatchingBabies. 34+5 weeks? That's not too long away now. Getting scared/worried/excited now!
I really don't know what I'm going to be like when my wife gets all the pains and contractions, but I know we'll get through it somehow. Can't wait!

Hi CB, yeah they checked placenta etc at scan and all was good, got to go back friday for monitoring again then another placenta scan next tues.
Right birth stories! Well with 1st i was 39+3 and went out for lunch then to my routine midwife appt, midwife asked if i had been rushing around as my blood pressure was high, i said no ive just been out for lunch, she said she would like me to go to hospital to get checked over, so we head to hosp (no bags etc with us) and they say im 3cm dilated! They said they wanted to keep me in due to high BP so hubby had to shoot home to get bags etc. They broke my waters at 5.30pm due to BP and within an hour i was saying i wanted to push but the midwife said i was a typical paranoid 1st time mom and said i had about 7 hours to go (7cm to go at 1cm per hour), anyway this carried on for a while, i felt like baby was coming and that i wanted to push, midwife didnt examine me just kept telling me to calm down! She said i needed something to calm me down and jabbed me with pethadine but within minutes she noticed baby was in distress so she decided to examine me and i was fully dilated (and probably had been for a while if she had bothered to check!) by now callum was struggling so she called doctors and i had to be cut and had a ventouse delivery, he was born at 7.56 pm. The midwife apologised for not listening to me, i was told by the staff that i should have made a complaint but i was just glad that we were both ok and wanted to get home! The pethadine decided to kick in when i was in the birth after delivery lol!
With 2nd i was 38 +2 and awoke in the middle of the night with contractions. Due to my quick delivery with 1st i rang hosp and they said to go straight in, i got there about 5am and was 6cm dilated. After a while i wasnt dilating so they broke my waters to speed things up. I only had gas and air with brad. After a while brad got distressed so again i had to be cut and this time i had forceps delivery, brad was born at 12.55pm.
With neither of mine i had a show prior to going into labour and my waters didnt break naturally either time. Im hoping for a 3rd time lucky with regards to a non distressed baby but im not sure whether the fact the 2 previous assisted births means im more likely to need one again this time. I remember the fear of going for a poo (sorry) after being stitched, it was worse than the fear of birth!
Spencer u will cope fine and im sure u will be a very supportive birth partner! Cant believe its getting so close for us all now! Cant wait to see who is first and see some baby pics!

Actually that's a good point to make. I never had a show and my waters didn't break till I was ready to push.
Both your babies were born before their due dates, Hayley. They probably would have been within the 'average' birth weight if they'd gone to term.
Spencer, you'll be just fine. My husband said it was difficult watching me go through all the pain and he hated feeling completely helpless. He was amazing! Completely supportive and he just seemed so collected and like he knew exactly what to do. He was an angel!

Hi everyone. Been a while since I last posted. Been so busy but I have been poppin on to have a read from time to time. Calbrad.... Sounds like ur having a hard time of it at the moment. I hope ur ok and baby of course. Ur nursery looks sweet. How's everyone feeling? I'm gettin really excited that soon I will have my little bundle of joy and finally know if babies a girl or a boy. Its flying in, 33 weeks already! I can't believe I managed to stop myself from finding out along the way about babies gender. I'm not goin to lie, it's been testing not knowing at times but feels so worth it now the end is in sight. I'm really excited. On the flip side.... Every new beginnings come from some other beginnings end.... I'm feeling sad that the end of this wonderful pregnancy is gettin closer. I'm so goin to miss my bump and that amazing feeling of ur baby moving inside of u. I'm sure you will all agree. How is everyone gettin on with being organised etc? Anyone planning to do anythin rememberable before 'the baby bump' disappears? Anyone doin any photo shoots etc?? We still haven't even decided on a name!! Have a list for a girl but struggling still with a boys name. Has everyone else decided on names? If so wot are they? We were so head strong with my youngest name (Bradley) from very early on. This time round I just feel lost and I'm starting to worry now I won't find that 'perfect name' before I have to register baby. Anyway hope everyone happy and healthy.

Wow, the nursery's looking great Hayley! We're getting the furniture delivered tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have some pics up by the end of the week.
We still can't decide on a name either. Names I like, my wife doesn't and vice versa. I'm sure we'll get there soon!
